Here's a coffee table we designed for a professional musician who plays the piano and his wife. They have a black Yamaha grand piano in their living room. They also love sailing. The materials took their cue from the instrument -- the case is polished black --absolute black polished granite to relate to the case and some of the keys -- the white thassos marble to relate to the other keys. . .

The book case is for the same clients. Their home was built in the early 20's. There are all sorts of Art Deco details especially in the lighing fixtures. The idea is to have a left and right -- mirror images of each other on either side of the fireplace. One for her collection of Russian literature and one for his music. The dividers were added to support soft bound manuscripts. One would also hold mini A-V equipment. There are two concepts. One -- the pieces would be CNC cut MDF and spray painted. To give the depth of the piano finish there would also be a clear top coat. The base would be Absolute Black Granite. The second incarnation would be a welded steel armature with glass shelves and glass end panels with the granite base.
